Great set/reaction, and I totally understand why the live performances were chosen, but you absolutely must listen to the studio versions of any of these tracks you hadn’t heard before. “Sunday Girl,” for example, is one of the most pristine pop songs I’ve ever heard with Mike Chapman’s production.

It's a beautiful song, Grandola Vila Morena. But it is false that we lived in a fascist dictatorship. We do live in a dictatorship, but in a corporatist, nationalist dictatorship that tried to rebuild Portugal after a major economic fall in 1884. And in certain aspects they succeeded, in the early 30s, 40s and 50s the majority of the population supported the dictatorship, due to its success economic, industrial and military, but over time and with the start of the colonial war, the State lost support and ended up falling. But we must remember the importance of this dictatorship, without it we would have fallen apart in World War II or even today, in addition to all the socio-economic problems, we were still dealing with the quarrels of past bankruptcies. Zeca Afonso was one of the many artists who once supported the dictatorship, but grew tired of the censorship. This is the main point.

Another band that I highly recommend that you check out and react to is Babe Rainbow. They are another retro band from Australia. Their music is heavily influenced by psychedelic 60's bands.

I just discovered this band last week and I am hooked. It is really rare to find a retro based band like this that is so heavily influenced by bands from the 60's and 70's. After listening to a lot of their music online, I have heard influences by not only The Beatles, but also, The Beach Boys, Badfinger, Todd Rungren and other 70's bands.

Quite amazing to hear two dudes break down an album I know note for note (measure for measure), my first Icehouse album, purchased age 11 back in the early eighties. The comparisons between Iva and Bowie were rife in the media here (Australia), and, interestingly, Bowie was staying in Sydney and recording the video for Lets Dance. Iva spotted Bowie in the crowd at a gig and started singing in his style ~ it made the music media. We can get Together, Can't Help Myself, Sister and Walls were huge hits, and every single tune is solid and either fun or intriguing - musically and lyrically, its a fantastic album, with echoes of Bolan, Bowie, Byrne and David Sylvian. Iva was experimental with the synth, and had one of (if not the first) Fairlight synthesizers in Australia, and it is used liberally all over their second album 'Primitive Man' and becomes a part of their evolving sound. As polished as everything else they have recorded is, this is my favorite album, for the rawness and the energy. Great breakdown guys - cheers

A masterpiece, that has grown to become a favourite for many ABBA fans and admirers! A fantasic song with the haunting atmosphere and synth sound, and Agnethas interpretation of it! But do not forget Fridas backing vocals - almost operatic sounding!!! So beautiful and her voclas adds to the haunting feeling of the song! I love it!

In the sixties when I was still as school this song hit like a sledgehammer, those powerful lyrics, think of all the hate there is in Red China, then take a look around Selma Alabama, We know Dr King started a Civil Rights March there. however in the UK we know he could of sung take a look around your own neighbourhood.

I love covers that are nothing like the original. This is DEFINITELY one of them.

My aunt was an ONJ fan and I remember listening to her music while she baby sat me in the early 70's. My first memories are of ONJ's earlier country albums... Let Me Be There; If You Love Me (Let Me Know); I Honestly Love You; Have You Never Been Mellow. A lot of her earlier songs that weren't hits are still my favorites because they have nostalgic place in my heart. I can say that even as a child under 5 years old, Olivia's voice had a calming effect on me that continues to this day. As I grew older, I learned more about her and heard more and more of her music. Grease put her in a different place in my world and she became an instant crush as I'm sure she did for many boys and girls at the time. Olivia's gifts to this world both in music and in spirit are indelible and her death palpable. I feel that when the world loses a soul as precious as she was, it is felt in our collective consciousness. Try songs like If Not For You and Follow Me. From the album Physical, try Falling and Carried Away.

I'd love to see you react to Steven Wilson, Silvertwin, State Cows, Young Gun Silver Fox and Vienna Teng. Lesser known brilliant music

I would be so so so interested to see you react to one of Bright Eyes Companion Versions of songs versus the original. They’ve intermittently been releasing songs from their albums with alternative arrangements to them.

These are two absolutely beautiful songs.

The musicianship on all of the Be Bop albums is unsurpassed. Sleep that burns, Swan song, Sister seagull, terminal street, music in dreamland etc Adventures in a Yorkshire landscape from the live album is probably the finest guitar solo of all time. No band comes close.

Bill Nelson is the greatest guitarist of all time. A genius in guitar playing and songwriting.

I didn’t know anything about Take That when they broke up, and my husband bought me their greatest hits album for my 50th birthday for a laugh. It turned out I knew all the songs on there! I love them now. They are much better the second time round.

RIP Tony Clarkin, the mastermind behind Magnum since 1972 until 2024 together wit singer Bob Catley. This is one of the many great songs the released over the years. It's so sad that there ain't gonna be more Magnum albums. But we will allway rember the music, forever and ever
